It’s always been a dream of mine to shoot for a kids fashion editorial. To photograph fantastic brands, to work with stylists and to shoot brilliant models in an amazing setting. Without wanting to sound corny, all my dreams came true last year when Lucie from The Wee Department Store asked me to shoot their Autumn/Winter Lookbook.
You may have seen or visited my food blog on The Wee Department Store, see here, or done some purchasing of their wonderful products. If not, it’s a fantastic site with an amazing selection of cool independent luxury brands from all over the world that cannot be found on the High Street. Kidscase, Carlota Barnabe, Wolf & Rita, Monkind Berlin and Alba Baby are a few of the fantastic brands they stock. Lucie definitely has an amazing eye for style that’s for sure. It’s all great quality and guaranteed to kit your child out so they are the coolest kid on the block!
We had a fabulous day shooting in a beautiful house in Hove. It was the perfect backdrop with its gorgeously coloured walls and interior which set the clothes off to a T.
Lucie had made up some boards on Pinterest a few weeks before for us all to see, to get a feel of the outfits and for her to know which model wears what before the shoot. The look was to be simple, the clothes speaking for themselves.
We had two sessions, the one in the morning was with the little ones and the afternoon with the older models. They’re were all super cute and so good.
The day was made even better by working with an amazing team; Charlie, who is now Lucie’s business partner from Kurt & Marni (the two brands have now merged, so now there is even more gorgeous brands to buy at The Wee, v dangerous!), and Vivienne Harris who was the stylist. Her very stylish eye made the images all come together with all the great props. Together with Lucie and the mums of the models, they were all very lovely and made me feel relaxed immediately. Some of the mums I have followed on Instagram so it was lovely to meet them and an added bonus to the day. The children were all so well behaved and absolute pros; they made it very easy for me and we had lots of fun. I think they loved wearing the clothes too; those bat pjs were especially popular!
I absolutely loved the photographs from the shoot, it was such an amazing experience. Here are a few of my favourite images from the day. Also head on over to The Wee Dept site and check out the whole finished lookbook
